Triumph of Darby

We've had another successful visit to the dentist! Darby does such a great job; she sits in that big chair like such a grown-up (well, better than some grown-ups, actually), follows directions and makes her mama so proud! The staff and dentist get such a kick out of her and she just gives me a thumbs-up the whole time. I am proud of her for being such a good brusher and such a good patient. She has been trying to brush her teeth again all morning.

When I asked her to smile for the webcam, this is what she gave me. Apparently Darby is a pirate. Oh, and she told me that she wants to be a tooth for Halloween. Any ideas on how to pull that off?

  1. I honestly try to make brushing the teeth fun for my child. And she will grab a toothbrush and pretend to brush while sucking the toothpaste off of it. But between my horrible genetic "chalk teeth" (they disintegrate when touched by water and crack when I chew hard foods) and my fears of her having the same I am neurotic about her brushing her teeth. And I hold her down to make sure all surfaces of the teeth are perfect. If I could, I would floss her.

Let's put it this way: there are a couple of minutes in our house every night that if someone from child protective services were to come by and see, I'm sure I would be hauled away and locked up.

I want my kid to give me a thumbs up from the dentist chair someday.

And I think it is AMAZING that she wants to be a tooth! I love that she is so unique, and dental hygienically aware.

And I have no idea how you will do that. SORRY!

  3. I haven't taken Montanna to the dentist yet!!! Maybe I should? She is getting much better at letting me brush her sugar bugs off and then taking her turn. I'll have to look into that. Good job Darby!
